Home to Wayne State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance, the Hilberry Theater is a 534 seat auditorum and is the oldest graduate repetory country in the United States.

Parking Accessibility

Due to the planned construction of the Gateway Performance Complex, WSU Lot 60 (located behind the Hilberry Theatre) is permanently closed. See below for alternative parking opportunities within walking distance of the theatre. We recommend using one of the following paid lots: Park N Lock located on Cass Avenue between Forest and Hancock Surface lot on corner of Hancock and Cass Surface lot on Forest between Cass and Woodward WSU Parking Structure 8, located at 91 West Forest between Woodward and Cass

Restroom Accessibility

A wheelchair accessible restroom is located in the lobby to the right of the concession stand.

Wheelchair Accessibility

The ramps on the Hancock Avenue side provide access to the lobby for those patrons who may have difficulty with stairs or need accessible access for their wheelchair or motorized scooter. At this time the Underground at the Hilberry is only accessible by stairs. They have a Stair Trac unit available to assist those with mobility issues. Please contact the Box Office at 313-577-2972 to request assistanc. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available at the Hillberry Theatre and the Allesee Dance Theatre. Patrons wishing to purchase these seats should call the box office at 313-577-2972 for both venues.
